1 Thessalonians 4:16-18

S - For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 NASB)

O - These words are meant to comfort. Why? I think because number one we are meeting the Savior in the clouds. It is the rapture, it is the beginning of the rest of our existence, an existence with God. Secondly we meet those who have died before us. We are "caught up together with them". We see them, be with them, fly with them. Totally exciting

A - I need to be comforted by these words when I encounter those around me who have died, that we will see each other once again. And also be comforted by the fact that my Heavenly Father has a plan to get me up to heaven and he is letting me in on it.

P - Lord, help me to live like you are coming today. Give me an excitement to meet you in the sky and to look to my left and right and see my brothers and sisters in Christ. Selah

1 Thessalonians 4:7, 8

S - For God has not called us for the purpose of impurity, but in sanctification. So, he who rejects this is not rejecting man but the God who gives His Holy Spirit to you. (1 Thessalonians 4:7, 8 NASB)

O - God gives us specific reasoning as to why we are called. Simply, he did not call us to be bad but good. To live a Godly life, not an ungodly one. And not only does he set the record straight but also moves the responsibility to us. If we don't like it then take it up with God.. . . no one else. He wrote it. He inspired it. He gives his Holy Spirit to us. If we don't like it, then the argument lies with God not man.

A - How often do I revel in the impurity. Live imbedded in the sins of man. All the time. My argument is not with man, it is not with the words on the page. It is with the one who wrote the book, who sent his Son to die and give us His Holy Spirit. How can I argue against the Creator of the universe. I cannot. I need to strive to live in the sanctification that God provides. Daily

P - Lord, cleanse me from the impurity in which I live. Help me to live and breath in the shadow of your care. And know that my hope and security comes from you. Thank you again for the comfort of your Holy Spirit you send. I love you Jesus. Selah

1 Thessalonians 2:11, 12

S - Just as you know how we were exhorting and encouraging and imploring each one of you as a father would his own children, so that you would walk in a manner worthy of the God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory. (1 Thessalonians 2:11, 12 NASB)

O - One of the most important phrases in this passage is "so that you would walk in a manner worthy of the God who calls you...." How often do I fit the bill for that. How often am I worthy? How often do I walk in such a way that God is proud of me? I can honestly say . . . not often enough!!!!!

A - If I am to be call a son of God, a child of the Creator, then I need to act like it. I need to represent the name of God by my actions and speech. Not just on Sundays and when I am around those people who are also Christians but especially around those who believe differently or have different values. Thereby they KNOW who I believe in and am a child of!!!

P - Lord, help me to strive to be worthy of the calling to be your child. May those around me me you and your name written on all that I do and say. Selah
